During lockdown, AutoRek encouraged all employees to get away from their homemade office and get outside to enjoy the fresh air, whilst also helping maintain good mental health and wellbeing. To do so, we set up a number of different steps challenges and split the participants into teams to compete against each other. We felt this was a good way for everyone to get active whilst also staying safe. The true competitiveness of some individuals really shone through, with some people tip-toeing around the house right up to mid-night just to ensure they took the lead! There was also some rumours of pet dogs hiding under tables to avoid being taken out on another long walk.
Throughout the month of June, to help keep everyone motivated we agreed to donate £1 to charity per every 1,000 steps taken. We are delighted to announce that we raised a grand total of £5,265 for charity. Huge thanks to everyone who took part. We are pleased to split total amount raised between very worthy charities; Trussell Trust and SAMH.
Trussell Trust supports a nationwide network of food banks and together, provide emergency food and support to people locked in poverty. In the UK, more than 14 million people are living in poverty – including 4.5 million children.
SAMH is Scotland’s national mental health charity and has been around since 1923. Today, in over 60 communities they work with adults and young people providing mental health social care support, services in primary care, schools and further education, among others.
