AutoRek Wear it Yellow for Cystic Fibrosis

Monday 10 July 2017 Blog

Between February 2017 and February 2018 Steven McAllister, Consultant at AutoRek, has set himself the challenge of running a race each month to raise funds for the Cystic Fibrosis Trust. This is charity close his heart as his eldest brother Paul lived with it. Unfortunately, he passed away in June 2014. Paul was an inspiration to Steven and many others and Steven is fundraising in his memory. Between training and competing Steven has run over 500 miles since the start of the year. Race highlights have been his first trail marathon (Glentress), first road marathon (Loch Katrine) and first ultramarathon (54 Mile Glasgow to Edinburgh.)

Team AutoRek teamed together and took part in numerous challenges and events throughout the day at work. These included a bake-off, Mario Kart Competition and an obstacle course.

The Bake-Off was very competitive with entries of Lemon Cheesecake, a Bulgarian party Banista, Lemon Muffins and a Banana Loaf. After a lot of tasting and opinions given, Callum was crowned the winner with his delicious Lemon Muffins!

The contest was hotly fought out with the final voting tally amounting to 7-5 Callum-Joanne. The entries were of course all absolutely devoured by everyone in the office!

We saw further competitiveness when the classic Mario Kart game on the Wii was set up, everyone was fighting to be the champion! Congratulations to Mark McClement’s who successfully navigated “Rainbow Road” to claim the title of AutoRek Mario Kart Champion 2017!

Following the Mario Kart tournament, our self-proclaimed athletes to part in the Tough Rekkers Assault Course taking on several ‘old-school’ challenges. These included; 3-Legged Race, Shoot the can, Space Hopper race, Egg and Spoon Race, Hula Hoop throw. Everyone was put in a team and all team members went against the clock to complete the assault course. The fastest two teams then went head to head for the coveted Tough Rekker Team of the Year! After much hilarity, cheating(!) and foul play it was hard to crown any team the winner… however as always, Aidan’s team claimed the victory!

Overall, everyone had a fantastic day raising funds for an extremely worthy charity. We were delighted to announced a grand total of £254.84! We would like to use this opportunity to thank everyone who took part and supported Steven with his challenge and helped raise funds for the Cystic Fibrosis Charity.

Steven has set up a JustGiving page, if you would like to show him your support please feel free donate here:
